130. Pet Shop Boys

Is it possible for a group that has stated that they hate Rock music to ever be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? This is the question we pose when discussing the Pet Shop Boys, the British Dance music duo who may be the most critically acclaimed of their genre.   Simply calling the Pet Shop Boys a Dance group is a little unfair. From their beginnings in the mid 80’s, they penned clever lyrics wrapped around danceable arrangements. They easily shifted styles to reflect the Dance scene around them effortless moving from Disco to House to Techno and back again. Although they did not create Electronica, they certainly pushed its boundaries and are a lot more influential than people think they are. Although we can’t see them in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, it wouldn’t be an abomination if they somehow got a nomination…
